I offer a number of different massage services and techniques. Each massage will be tailored to your specific needs.
Relaxation Massage: Why choose this type of massage?
You are simply wanting to unwind from the stress of daily life. You prefer a lighter touch. You don’t really have any specific areas of discomfort or pain. You are needing relief from pain or discomfort but you are sensitive to pressure.
What should I expect?
A relaxation massage will consist of long gliding strokes, gentle kneading of larger muscles, some pressing or holding of gentle pressure on specific areas. Your Massage Therapist will want you to let her know if the pressure is ever more than you would like. There should be no pain involved and rarely are you sore or uncomfortable after this type of massage.
Deep Tissue Massage: Why should I choose this type of massage?
You have sore, tight, over worked or under-worked muscles. You are an athlete wanting to recover from or prepare for and event. You are someone that simply enjoys a firmer pressure. You have specific areas that need concentrated work and attention. You have chronic areas of tense muscles.
What should I expect?
A “deep tissue” massage can mean something different, depending on the therapist that you visit. It is a widely used term that is loosely defined. Here I will share what my interpretation of the term, “deep tissue” means.
I use a firm, gentle touch that will gradually increase in depth and pressure. The goal is to find the pressure that feels right to you. That is a pressure that is sometimes described as, “hurts so good”. This pressure should never be one that feels sharp or uncomfortable to the point that you “want it to stop now!”. You will know that it is the right pressure when you are able to take deep, relaxing breaths and enjoy the feeling of the tissue opening and allowing the pressure to sink in rather than tensing and pushing back. A deep tissue massage is used to target specific areas of need. During this type of massage, you will notice that only some areas receive the deeper work while the rest of the body will receive a more moderate pressure. This work is labor intensive on the part of the Therapist and is not beneficial to the client if overdone.
I also offer massage for the pregnant client.
